Modes And Scales lesson 3

MODES AND SCALES    lesson 3

Since every white key before the first-two black key is "C"

The distance between "C" to the next black Key/Note "C#" is a Semitone.

The distance between "C" to the next white Key/Note  "D" is a Tone.

Having understood this, let's go on to construct our Major scale using the Scale formation.

Major Scale on the Key of "C"

The starting  point is "C" and the Major Scale Formation is T,T,ST,T,T,T,ST.
A Tone away from "C" is D
A Tone away from "D" is E
A Semitone away from "E" is F
A Tone away from "F" is G
A Tone away from "G" is A
A Tone away from "A" is B                   A Semitone away from "B" is C

NOTE: A Semitone occur between the 3rd and 4th note, also between the 7th and 8th note.

Major Scale on the Key of "C#"

The starting  point is "C#" and the Major Scale Formation is T,T,ST,T,T,T,ST.
A Tone away from "C#" is Eb
A Tone away from "Eb" is F
A Semitone away from "F" is F#
A Tone away from "F#" is Ab
A Tone away from "Ab" is Bb
A Tone away from "Bb" is C
      A Semitone away from "C" is C#

NOTE: A Semitone occur between the 3rd and 4th note, also between the 7th and 8th note.

We will continue from here.
